"Plymouth's Jenney Grist Mill - A Historic Presentation"

Step back in time as you walk through the doors of the old mill.  Hear the story of Pilgrim John Jenney, his journey to America and how he built the original grist mill.  See the water wheel turn the grinding stones and hear how corn is ground by the turn of a stone. Our miller will delight you with tales from the past and present. Hear the Pilgrim's story and how important the Mill was to the survival of the colony.  Tours on the hour and half hour. Reservations are suggested but not necessary. Visit the Mill Stone Creamery ice cream shop before or after your tour.

 "Discover Plymouth's History - A Walking Tour"

If history is why you are coming to Plymouth, you won't want to miss this tour of the historic district. Hear about the people, places, and events that shaped the beginning of our country. One hour tour begins at the Grist Mill.  Reservations are necessary. Call 508-747-4544. Free parking on site.

2010 Exhibits

"The Life Cycle of the River Herring"

This exhibit runs April through June. Every spring see thousands of river herring migrate up Town Brook alongside the Mill.  Take a tour of the Mill and learn of the importance of the herring and the 1636 mill to the survival of the colony. Watch an underwater video of the herring swimming against the water currents as they migrate towards Billington Sea.

"The Story of the Cranberry & Corn Harvests"

Beginning September through November the Jenney Grist Mill, in conjunction with A.D. Makepeace of Wareham, will present the exhibit “The Story of the Cranberry & Corn Harvests” Discover the answers to “When and how do they harvest a cranberry? What does a bog look like? Where can I see a bog?  How do cranberries grow? See a harvest on a underwater video. How about corn?  How many varieties are there? How important was corn to the colony? How did they grind corn? What can I make with it? Buy a bag and try your hand at making corn muffins! Visit the Jenney Grist Mill and discover the answers to these questions and more.

The program helps to pay admission to the Jenney Grist Mill for children 17 years and under. Thank you for supporting our educational programs. 

The John Jenney Scholorship Fund

This fund helps to pay admission for student field trips to the Mill for our educational programs. Schools are being forced to cut funding for field trips due to budget cuts and the high costs of transportation.

Our costumed miller is available for talks on numerous topics including life in the 17th Century, the Pilgrim's God, and the Second Thanksgiving.  Call for more information.

Check it out....book by Jenney descendent, Bill Griffeth, CNBC anchor. Bill's book, By Faith Alone, is a story of his families journey through 400 years of American Protestantism. The Jenney family history and the Grist Mill play a prominent role in the book.
